Svenska Skolan i Silicon Valley
The Swedish School in Silicon Valley
About the Swedish School (In Swedish)
The Swedish School in Silicon Valley provides Swedish Language Education to children between six and eighteen years. This is done by using Swedish Language Books and other material related to Sweden and Swedish traditions.

The lessons are led by two teachers. The number of students varies year to year but is usually in the range of 15 - 20. Since the school is a parent cooperative, parents take turns helping out in the classroom.

During the year the school celebrates Swedish traditions such as Lucia (Luciatåg), Christmas (julpyssel) and Easter (påskgubbar and påskgummor). At the end of the school year we sing "Den blomstertid nu kommer". From time to time we also get together with other schools to play brännboll, BBQ and to exchange ideas and experiences.

The governing body of the school is the Swedish School Association in Silicon Valley, founded in 1999 as a parent cooperative. The school is directed by a Board which is composed of parents to the children. The education follows directives on education in supplementary Swedish as outlined by the Swedish National board of Education. For information about these guidelines, please press here.
